Iconic Bali Nightclubs Paddy’s Pub and Bounty Discotheque Demolished, Leaving Locals and Visitors Heartbroken

Two of Bali’s most beloved nightlife spots, Paddy’s Irish Pub and Bounty Discotheque, have been reduced to rubble, leaving both locals and tourists devastated by the loss. The destruction was captured on video by Balinese YouTube vlogger and bar owner, known to the community as Uncle Chan.

Paddy’s Irish Pub, a staple of Kuta’s nightlife scene since its opening in 1998, was notably one of the locations targeted during the 2002 Bali bombing attacks, which claimed the lives of 202 people, including 88 Australians. Despite the tragedy, the pub reopened in 2003 as a symbol of resilience, inviting visitors from around the world to heal alongside its community.

Bounty Discotheque, affectionately referred to as the “sister of Paddy’s,” was a renowned hotspot known for its ‘wet n’ wild’ events and distinctive ship-like architecture. The venue quickly became a favorite for partygoers, securing its place as one of Kuta’s leading attractions.

The demolition of these iconic venues has left many nostalgic, with viewers on social media sharing their sorrow over the loss. One commenter recalled, “It was my very first visit to Bali in the 90s, so sad.”

While the future of the sites remains uncertain, speculation is rife that they may be redeveloped into hotels. “It’s the end of an era,” said one emotional viewer.

As locals and visitors reflect on the significance of these landmarks, their destruction marks the close of a defining chapter in Bali’s nightlife history.
