Southeastern Offers 10,000 £5 Advance Tickets for Kent Big Weekend Travel

by Evelyn

Southeastern is launching a special promotion offering 10,000 Advance train tickets for just £5, allowing travelers to explore Kent, East Sussex, and London at a significantly reduced cost. The discounted tickets will be available for journeys on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6, exclusively via the Southeastern website and app from March 22 to March 28.

This initiative coincides with Visit Kent’s Kent Big Weekend, an event where residents can access free tickets to hundreds of local attractions and businesses. Inspired by Network SouthEast’s popular travel deals of the 1980s and 1990s, the Southeastern Network Weekend is part of the Railway 200 celebrations, marking two centuries of railway history in the UK.

Encouraging Sustainable Travel and Regional Tourism

Steve White, Managing Director at Southeastern, highlighted the significance of the initiative:

“We know that many of our customers love exploring Kent’s stunning scenery, heritage sites, and attractions. To celebrate 200 years of the railway and to tie in with Kent Big Weekend in April, we’re delighted to launch The Southeastern Network Weekend – offering 10,000 Advance train tickets for just £5 each.

“For those lucky enough to have won tickets through Kent Big Weekend, this is a great opportunity to let the train take the strain and travel sustainably at a reduced price. And for those who haven’t, our promotion makes it easier than ever to discover Kent’s incredible destinations without having to drive.”

Southeastern’s rail network serves a mix of vibrant towns and cities—including Canterbury, Ashford, Maidstone, and Rochester—as well as scenic countryside and coastal locations such as Margate, Hastings, Broadstairs, and Whitstable. The discounted tickets aim to boost local tourism and economic activity while promoting environmentally friendly travel.

Visit Kent Partnership Enhances Accessibility

Deirdre Wells OBE, Chief Executive Officer at Visit Kent, welcomed the collaboration with Southeastern:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Southeastern for this year’s Kent Big Weekend. In addition to securing free tickets to many of Kent’s top attractions, this partnership allows residents to take advantage of £5 train tickets throughout the weekend.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to explore the many gems on their doorstep. It’s great value and sustainable too! What better way to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the railway—get on board!”

How to Book and Accessibility Information

Customers can purchase multiple £5 Advance tickets through the Southeastern website and app, maximizing savings on their travels. Those requiring accessibility support or assistance can reach out to Southeastern Customer Services or visit a ticket office. As with all Advance tickets, terms and conditions apply, and availability is limited to selected routes.

This initiative not only provides an affordable way to explore the region but also underscores Southeastern’s commitment to sustainable travel and regional connectivity.
