Yangsan City has announced that improvements to Hwangsan Park are advancing as part of the city’s “Tomorrow’s City Mulgeum, One-Stop Life” initiative, which was unveiled earlier this year. The ongoing efforts aim to significantly enhance accessibility, especially during peak seasons when large events like the Cherry Blossom Festival and Chrysanthemum Festival attract substantial crowds.
Addressing persistent traffic congestion at the park’s entrances and exits during these high-traffic periods, the city revealed plans in January for the construction of an overpass and the development of the Mulgeum Cherry Blossom Road Green Railway. A supplementary budget of 200 million won has been allocated for a feasibility study, with the full project slated for completion by 2029. The city anticipates that the improvements will enhance traffic flow and accessibility, ultimately boosting the park’s profile as a key national tourist destination.
Beyond infrastructure upgrades, the city is also focusing on enriching the park’s seasonal appeal. This spring, nine varieties of tulips have been planted across the central plaza, adding vibrant color to the landscape. These flowers are expected to bloom in full display from mid-April through May, complementing the already blooming yuchae flowers that are drawing visitors to the park.
